HTMS parents, staff and supporters,
The 2009 - 2010 school year is more than halfway finished and the Husky Foundation continues to bring value to the HTMS family of students, educators and parents.
The new computer lab, funded through last year's Foundation donations and fundraisers, is now in full use and helps to meet the school goal of each grade having their own designated computer lab. Thanks to the generous support of the HTMS family, we are thrilled to be able to help HTMS students meet the goals of being a 21st Century technology school!
The Husky Hut continues to serve as a source of school supplies, required reading books and much more for HTMS students and staff. Stop by any Tuesday or Thursday morning and check out the new shelving supplied by Border's of the Avenue. Our store truly looks like a real store now as merchandise is easily displayed and no longer needs to be stored away. Thank you very much to the HTMS parents who have provided the needed staffing for "The Hut" which is providing positive cash flow each month.
The Foundation continues to provide the funding for the school traffic guard. Officer Calhoun, a Cobb County police employee, secures student safety for 30 minutes each morning prior to the arrival of the school crossing guard at 8:45 AM. Only Cobb County police offices like Officer Calhoun can direct traffic to secure a smooth and safe traffic flow for early morning activities. We appreciate his hard work and very efficient traffic direction.
Registration is already underway for the Foundation's annual Husky 101 Summer Camp which provides a fun and informative introduction to HTMS for incoming sixth graders. Check out the link on the home page of our website for more details and the registration form.
We are looking for volunteers who would like to assist the Foundation in a variety of ways for the 2010 - 2011 school year. We have a few board positions open as well as committee jobs that will be available. Whether you work outside the home or from your home, we have an opportunity for you to share your time and talents with the Foundation! Please contact Rachel Gouin at rachelgouin@bellsouth.net
These difficult and challenging times help to reinforce the strong support of the HTMS family of teachers, parents, community leaders and students who have all contributed to the success of the Husky Foundation this year. The Foundation is a non-profit organization with minimum operating costs and a mission to maximize the return of all contributions to HTMS through its targeted projects. We appreciate your strong support and look forward to expanding the scope of our value to HTMS now and in the coming school years.
We invite you to be involved in this worthwhile endeavor. Please let us know how you would like to participate in the success of the HTMS Husky Foundation. Together we can do more!
